10U Elite Girls Win the MLHA CLASSIC 2018!!
Congrats to the U10 Girls for bringing home the MLHA Classic Trophy!! They won all 3 games beating out the Kent Cyclones, Mt Lebo Hornets and the Geauga Mapleleafs! They faced the Mapleleafs again in the Championship game to raise the MLHA CUP!!
Some of their RMU Big Sisters were able to attend and the girls even ran into Steeler Brett Kiesel who stopped and got a pic with the girls before the game! He even said that the girls play really hard and that he was honored to get a picture with the Penguins!!
Great job Girls!!!
The Banner stays right here in Pittsburgh!! Congratulations to our 10U Elite Girls for winning the championship game against the Guelph Gryphons 5-1 for the Gold Medals!
It was a fun Thanksgiving weekend for some great GIRLS HOCKEY! Our girls easily toppled the North Halton Twisters 10-0 on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, the girls came away with a tougher win over the Guelph Gryphons 2-1 and then another aggressive win over the Cleveland Barons 7-3 placing our girls in the #1 spot for the Championship Game against the Gryphons!
The coaches were extremely pleased with all of the effort these girls gave this weekend! They told them that all of their hard work during practice and skills over the past couple of months has proven to pay off during game time!
These girls have a lot to be proud of after this Thanksgiving Weekend! Not only have they truly bonded as a team, they are making lifelong friendships that will just continue to grow!!
Special Shout Out to our 10U Black Team for taking home the SILVER medals this weekend! Great job girls!!!
Way to go, Pens!!
Your 10U Elite Girls Champions!
"Champagne" Celebration!!
Our girls traveled to Canada to participate in the 7th Annual Starsfest Girls tournament! Although this was the first game that the girls played as a Pens Elite team, all of the hard work during practice and skills training paid off! Our girls learned quickly that Canadian hockey is certainly physical and aggressive, but they played exceptionally well together and bonded over their first away tournament!
Our first game was against the Kanata Rangers and our girls pulled out a 7-2 win! The Belleville Bearcats gave the girls a run for their money with a hard felt loss of 3-1. Our third game against a small but mighty team boosted our egos by posting a 6-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons putting us in 2nd place in the Atom A-B division moving us to the quarterfinals against the North Bay Ice Boltz.
The girls truly fought hard but the Ice Boltz came away with a 3-1 win over our girls sending us home earlier than we wanted or expected! Fortunately we have an awesome group of girls and and an even more awesome group of parents that support these beautiful girls! A little bit of food, some swimming and hanging out together at the hotel helped soothe some of our wounds! Looking forward to our next opportunity to show what these amazing girls can do!
