Girls Alumni

The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite has a strong history of helping girls move on to the "next level."  Nearly every girl that has graduated through our program moves on to college hockey.  In addition, some of these girls have have the tremendous opportunity to play for Team USA.

Pens Elite Girls in College Hockey


NCAA UPDATE:  Congratulations to the following Pittsburgh Penguins Elite alumni having great success being impact players this year in NCAA College Hockey!

Jessica (Jess) Brown, Sr., Cornell University -- Brown's OT Game Winning Goal over Harvard in the last game of the regular season propelled the Big Red to the ECAC Playoffs. 

Pippy Gerace, Fr., Cornell University -- Also plays for the Big Red and was an ECAC Player of the Week this season.

Mackenzie Lancaster, Fr., Quinnipiac University -- Helped lead Qpac to an ECAC regular season title and 1st place seed in the playoffs.

Ashley Vesci, Sr., Robert Morris University -- Vesci is "C" of RMU Women's Hockey

Mooney Named ACHA Tournament MVP

Congratulations to freshman, Kaley Mooney who was named ACHA Tournament MVP as she helped her Miami University squad win the National Championships!

NCAA College Commitments

19U Black commits to Salem State

Congratulations to 19U Maddie Black on her commitment to play hockey for Salem State. Maddie has been an integral part of her 19U team this year; providing energy and speed on the ice, while keeping a positive attitude on the bench and in the locker room. Good luck at Salem State Maddie! 

19U Trice commits to Hamilton College

Pittsburgh, and Moon Township, native 19U Alayna Trice was accepted into NESCAC Hamilton College and has committed to play NCAA D3 hockey for the Continentals.  Team Pittsburgh/Pittsburgh Pens Elite is the only Tier 1 program Alayna has played for and she has been a leader on and off the ice.  We are excited that Alayna will join former Pittsburgh Penguins Elite teammates Andrea Rockey and Sam Walther at Hamilton College after she graduates from Shadyside Academy. Congratulations Alayna! 

19U Smith commits to Wesleyan University

The Pens Elite are happy to announce a NCAA commitment by 19U Sam Smith to the prestigious NESCAC school Wesleyan University. Goalie Sam Smith, who graduated from Shady Side Academy in 2015, will join Wesleyan University Women's hockey team in the fall of 2016.  Sam has played for Pens Elite since 10U and will join fellow 19U teammate and Shadyside player Alayna Trice in the storied NESCAC division. Over the past few years 2-3 Pens Elite girls have moved onto NESCAC programs every season. Best of luck Sam!!

Sabatini to Stevenson College

Alli Sabatini, the longest current player in the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program has commited to play her college hockey at Baltimore's Stevenson College.  Many schools were after the defenseman's "hockey intelligence" but Sabatini from South Park is looking to bring her skills to Stevenson's blue-line!  Good luck Alli!

Rust Commits to RIT!

Reagan Rust, who has played with the Pittsburgh Pens Elite since U14 is excited to play her college hockey at RIT in Rochester, NY.  Rust, who is originally from Mississippi has made a tremendous sacrifice to follow her dreams of playing college hockey, will graduate from Moon Area Highschool after having lived away from home the past three years.  Her hard work has paid off and we'll look forward to watching Reagan in the CHA when she returns to Pittsburgh to play next season!

Julie Dachille, a 2014 graduate from Peters Township HS is excited to attend prestigious Bowdoin University and play for the Polar Bears next season!  Julie has played for Pittsburgh Penguins Elite for many years and looks forward to playing in the NESCAC League next fall.

Khalouf Commits to UVM

Rachel Khalouf ('96) who attends Shadyside Academy and plays on the Pittsburgh Pens Elite u19 team committed to the University of Vermont after carefully considering all her NCAA D1 offers. While attending the annual NAHA Labor Day showcase this year, Rachel fell in love with UVM and the Burlington area, so the organization was proud of her to be offered to play for the Catamounts!  Rachel is only a Jr. and so we're thrilled to have her back with the Pens Elite for another season! Congratulations Rachel and the entire Khalouf family!

16U Schauer commits to RMU

Congratulations to 16U Morgan Schauer on her commitment to Robert Morris University. The standout defender had offers from a number of D1 schools but made her decision to join the Colonials as a student-athlete. Congrats Morgan! 

19Us Huber and Peterson commit to Endicott College

The Penguins Elite would like to congratulate seniors Madison Huber (D) and Alyssa Peterson (G) on their acceptance and verbal commitments to Endicott College located in suburban Boston. Alyssa has played for Pens Elite since 10U and Maddie joined the program in 14U. Both have been strong leaders on and off the ice. We know they will bring their strong work ethic to the "Gulls." Congratulations!!

Kuhlman to Adrian!

Jesse Kuhlman who is in her second year with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite U19 has commited to play her college hockey at Adrian College!  A strong power-forward, Kuhlman will be a welcome addition at Michigan's Adrian next fall.  Congratulations to Jesse - your hard work and commitment has paid off!

Orzechowski commits to RPI

Ana Orzech-owski, who joined the Pens Elite just this year, will be moving on to play her college hockey at NCAA D1 RPI in Troy, NY. Orzechowski who hails from NY State will be close to home when she plays in the ECAC.  The strong skating defenseman will be a welcome addition to RPI in the fall of 2015.

Lancaster to Quinnipiac

After considering numerous scholarship offers, Mackenzie Lancaster ('97) commits to NCAA D1 University Quinnipiac University (ECAC) where she will join the Bobcats in 2015. Click Here for complete story.

Adams to NESCAC Trinity College


Tasha Adams becomes the 3rd Pittsburgh Penguins Elite u19 player to commit to a prestigious NESCAC school in the last two years. 2013 grads Jamie Ptacek plays for Bowdoin and Jess Barkley suits up for Colby. Tasha will play for the Bantams after graduating in 2014, where she will be coached by 4x US Olympian Jenny Potter! Congratulations Tasha!

19U Diffendal commits to RMU

Congratulations to Pittsburgh native 19U Anjelica Diffendal on her commitment to Robert Morris University. Diffendal, a '98 forward, has been a leader and consistent offensive force for her Pens Elite teams over the last several seasons.

19U Klaus commits to St. Anselm

Congratulations to Megan Klaus of State College, PA who has committed to play NCAA D3 hockey for St. Anselm in New Hampshire!  Megan has played her entire Tier 1 career for Team Pittsburgh/Pittsburgh Pens Elite and will be a strong force on the blue line for the Hawks in the New England Hockey Conference. Congrats Megan!!   

Rockey Commits to Hamilton College!

Andrea Rockey becomes the second 2014-15 U19 player to commit to an impressive NESCAC program (and the 6th in the last 3 years!) Andrea will join U19 and Shadyside Academy teammate Olivia Stokes in the NESCAC when she joins Hamilton College next fall.  Like Olivia, Andrea has played her entire girls' hockey career with Pittsburgh Penguins Elite and herself has been involved in some important goals helping her team get to USA Hockey Nationals!  Congratulations Andrea on your success!

Stokes commits to Williams College

Olivia Stokes who has played her entire hockey career with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program will play her college hockey at Williams College in the prestigious NESCAC League.  The Uniontown forward, Stokes, should be an impact player when she joins the team in 2015 after she graduates from Shadyside Academy.

Mooney to Merrimack

Ireland Mooney is excited to attend Merrimack College on a hockey scholarship beginning in 2015! Coach Hamlen of Merrimack began watching Mooney at the Beantown Classic, then continued at the NAHA Labor Day Tournament and the Stoney Creek University Showcase. By the time of the Exeter Showcase in late-September, Mooney was able to visit the campus and was excited about the new facilities Merrimack has to offer. Congratulations Iley, you've earned your success!
