Community service is an important part of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization. Every season, each Pens Elite team completes a community service project. The projects that teams choose have a wide range but are always beneficial to both the community as well as the players as they learn the importance of giving back.

The 12U Girls Black team decided that their team community service project would involve helping animals. On Saturday, February 2nd, the team assisted the Bridge to Home Animal Rescue organization at their pet adoption event at Pet Supplies in Bridgeville. The girls collected donations and pet supplies that they presented to the Director of Bridge to Home along with $250 that they collected during the bake sale that they held on Saturday during the event.

Bridge to Home Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless, unwanted and abandoned dogs find their forever homes. The girls thoroughly enjoyed helping such a wonderful cause and Bridge to Home was thrilled to have the girls participate and was equally thrilled with the donation they received. Almost all of the pets up for adoption found a new home so the event was a success all around!
