Anthony Sewecke: 2006 Black

Anthony Sewecke is a forward on the 2006 Black team. One of the team’s goaltenders was diagnosed with pneumonia last week before a weekend tournament in Rochester that featured 5 games in 3 days. Anthony was asked to bring his old goalie equipment from a few years ago when he was considering playing the position since the team would only have one goaltender to start the weekend. After playing one game on Friday, the team’s goaltender became ill and had to leave the tournament. That meant that after not being in net or practicing in over two years, Anthony would be the team’s starting goaltender for the tournament.

Anthony ended up playing in the next four games straight as neither of the team’s goaltenders were able to return. The 2006 Black team posted a 1-1-2 record in the games that he started including a win over the Troy Albany Titans and ties with the Oshawa Generals and Utica Junior Comets.

Anthony’s team-first attitude and enthusiasm to jump in net when called upon is a testament to his character. His performance in net rallied his team and he was without a doubt the reason that the team did so well in their final 4 games.

Eva Dorr: 16U Girls

Eva Dorr, a forward on the 16U Girls team, has also been recognized for an outstanding month of September both on and off the ice. Eva has recorded 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) through 12 games and that great start has been attributed to the hard work that she put in during the summer to prepare for this season.

Eva’s hard work and dedication has led to tremendous improvement that is showing on the ice. Off the ice, she continues to be an outstanding teammate, role model and friend to all of her fellow players. Despite the team’s busy schedule, Eva is always on top of her school work while on the road and has maintained a 4.8 GPA. All of this while not missing a single workout, practice or game this season! Recently, Eva was named the assistant captain for the 16U Girls team which is proof of what she means to her team.

Congratulations to Anthony and Eva on being named PPE Players of the Month!
