Boys Select 15U National Player Development Camp Recap

The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization has a camp-high 14 players at this year’s USA Hockey Boys Select 15 Player Development Camp. The camp, taking place in Amherst, New York all week, featured 216 players from around the country divided into 12 teams and competing in daily games.

 

Of the 14 Pens Elite players invited, 10 will play on the 15U team next season. They include forwards Jackson Morehouse, Nicholas Tirch, Michael Hurst, Nick Sweet and Nicholas Sewecke and defensemen Justin Gibson, Austin Oravetz, Mitch Simmons and Teddy Sawyer. There were also 4 members of next season’s 16U team in camp including forwards Shawn O’Donnell and Colby Saganiuk; defenseman Carter Schade, Tyler Pfister and goaltender Andrew Pichora.

Shawn O’Donnell’s impressive 7 points in 4 games left him tied for second in points at the conclusion of camp. Other impressive performances from Penguins Elite players included Nicholas Tirch and Colby Saganiuk each notching 5 points, Nicholas Sewecke’s 4 goals in 4 games and Jackson Morehouse with 3 points. All 13 Penguins Elite skaters in camp managed to get their name on the scoresheet with at least one point.

Goaltender Andrew Pichora only allowed 2 goals in four appearances and posted a stellar 1.20 GAA and .955 save percentage as he made 42 saves on the 44 shots he faced.
