USA Hockey’s annual player development camps give the nation’s top young players the chance to train with top coaches as well as the opportunity to compete with their peers from throughout the country. The roster for the Boys Select 15 camp was recently unveiled and several Pittsburgh Penguins Elite members were invited. In total, 12 current Pens Elite members were selected for the national camp.

All 5 of the defensemen that were selected for the national camp from the Mid-Am district are current Pittsburgh Penguins Elite players. Justin Gibson, Austin Oravetz, Tyler Pfister, Teddy Sawyer and Carter Schade were the defensemen that received the invite. Andrew Pichora of the 16U Pens Elite team was the goaltender that was selected to represent the Mid-Am district at the national camp.

The group of forwards from the Mid-Am district that was selected for the national camp is also littered with Pens Elite members as Michael Hurst, Jackson Morehouse, Nicholas Sewecke and Nick Sweet will be representing the 15U team while Shawn O’Donnell and Colby Saganiuk will represent the 16U team.

The Boys Select 15 National Player Development Camp will take place from July 15th through 20th at the Northtown Center in Amherst, New York. Congratulations to all Pittsburgh Penguins Elite members who received an invitation!

The 15 Festival at Kent State will also see quite a few Pittsburgh Penguins Elite players in attendance. 2 forwards (Evan Vanden Heuvel and Ty Voit), 2 defensemen (Casey Aman and Patrick Silhanek) will head to Kent State University for the Festival which will take place between August 1st and 5th.

The abundance of Pittsburgh Penguins Elite players that will be participating in the National Development Camp as well as the Mid-Am Festival is a testament to the quality of the program. Developing the top talent in the region continues to be the goal of Pittsburgh Penguins Elite and sending players to national and regional camps is just one indicator of the success of the program.
