As the excitement for the Stanley Cup Playoffs builds in Pittsburgh, members of the 2003 Elite Pittsburgh Penguins Team find themselves in Charlotte, North Carolina fighting for a championship of their own. After the 2003 Elites defeated the Boston Jr. Eagles 3-1 in the semifinal, they find themselves on the cusp of a national championship. The only thing in their path: the number one team in the country, Compuware.

On their path to the championship, the 2003 Elites have defeated Victory Honda, the Boston Jr. Terriers, the Mid Fairfield Jr. Rangers and Perinton Youth Hockey before defeating the Jr. Eagles in the penultimate game of the tournament. Trailing 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to go, Pens Elite tallied tied the score and eventually found the back of the net for the game winner with 3 and a half minutes to go. An empty net goal sealed a spot in the championship game on Tuesday.

In 5 games, the goaltending tandem of Justin Cataldo and Michael Brown have only allowed 5 goals. The offense has been provided by Colby Saganiuk, who leads the tournament with 5 goals, Evan Vanden Heuvel (4 goals) and Shawn O’Donnell (3 goals). Coaches Brian Mueller and Kevin Muller have led the 2003 Elites to the number two ranking in the country but will face a big challenge against the number one ranked Compuware.

The game will take place at 10:00 AM at the Extreme Ice Center in Charlotte. The game can be viewed online by following the links provided below.
