Division 1 Commitments

The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program is proud of 16U Forwards Alex Servagno and Dane Dowiak on their acceptance and verbal commitments to D-1 schools, Ohio State University and Penn State, respectfully. Alex and Dane have played side by side as forwards for a number of years within the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization and we are confident that they will bring their hard work ethic to the next step of their journeys!

The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey program began in 1963 and since then have had major victories, ultimately leading the Buckeyes to be members of the Big Ten Conference. Steve Rohlik is their head coach and he has been leading the team for the past three seasons and has over 16 years of experience coaching at the D1 level. Additionally, assistant coach, JB Bittner, was an alumni of the Penguins Elite!

Penn State’s ice hockey program has made significant progress since their re-formation and in 2010, Penn State officially announced that the program would move to the NCAA Division 1 level! The Nittany Lion’s current head coach, Guy Gadowsky, took over in the 2011 season as the Lions were transitioning into the NCAA Division I level.

Penn State University’s ice hockey is currently ranked 11 in the nation. To find out more about their program click here: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-hockey/psu-m-hockey-body.html

Congratulations Alex and Dane! We can’t wait to cheer you both on.
