"Lemieux Leads League in Scoring"

A headline that has become commonplace in Pittsburgh since the 80's has surfaced once again, as former Pens Elite leading scorer Austin Lemieux has captured the USPHL Premier Scoring Title for the 2016-2017 campaign. Lemieux paced the USPHL Premier Division in points this season, racking up 74 in only 45 games. A natural playmaker, he registered 54 assists and 20 goals, finishing one point ahead of teammate Lucas Michaud for the scoring title. His 1.64 points per game average is the highest in USPHL history and his 74 point season was the 4th best single-season total.

Those that followed "Ozzy's" Pittsburgh career are not surprised by the high level of production he has achieved this season, as he finished with 66 points in 59 games in the 2014-2015 season for the Pens Elite Midget Majors. Current Pens Elite U18 Head Coach Kevin Quinn on Lemieux: "Austin was the consummate teammate, has always been loaded with skill and work ethic, and was always one of the most respected guys in the room. He had an outstanding year for us in 2015 and we are so proud of how well he has been doing, but certainly not surprised." Those strong 2014-2015 numbers helped him land a spot on the USHL's Omaha Lancers for the 2015-2016 season, where he began to garner significant D1 interest before signing with the Arizona State Sun Devils this past year.

The North Andover, Massachusetts based Islanders Hockey Club finished the regular season as the top team in the USPHL's top-circuit, amassing a 38-6-1 record over the 45 game season. They enter the postseason as the #1 seed, winning 21 of their last 22 games.

Best of luck in the postseason and congratulations on the awesome accomplishment Ozzy!
