The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program made a big splash in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection - with 7 players being selected, no other U.S based youth organization had more. The team's strong development system and consistent exposure in high-profile events continue to make it a pipeline for young American talent heading into major junior hockey.
The annual draft consisted of 303 players drafted over 15 rounds from 88 different organizations across North America.
In the second round with the 25th overall pick, the Guelph Storm selected Mark Pape, a forward who registered 51 goals and 43 assists for a total of 94 points this season with the 15U Pens Elite team.
Aiden Mowrey was selected with the 84th overall pick in the 5th round by the Barrie Colts. The defenseman is coming off a 2024-25 season where he registered 32 points with the 15U Pens Elite squad.
Later in the 5th round, with the 102nd pick, the Windsor Spitfires selected Caden Harvey. The native of Beaver, PA has spent time during the 2024-25 season with the 16U Pittsburgh Penguins Elite team, the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL and the US National Team Development Program.
In the 8th round, with the 146th overall pick, the Sarnia Sting picked Kase Kamzik who registered 26 goals and 33 assists with the 16U Pens Elite team this season and also appeared in USHL action with the Sioux City Musketeers.
Soon after, in the 8th round, the Kingston Frontenacs made Nolan Snyder the 158th overall pick. The Seven Fields, PA native scored 34 goals and added 62 assists this season with the 15U Pens Elite squad.
In the 10th round, the Oshawa Generals selected Leo Laschon with the 197th overall pick. The Pittsburgh native recorded 36 points in 48 games with the 16U Pens Elite team and also spent time with the US National Team Development Program this season.
In the 15th round, Brody George was selected 295th overall by the Saginaw Spirit. George, a forward, spent this season with the US National Team Development Program but prior to that, was a key contributor to the Pens Elite organization.
This surge in selections further cements the Penguins Elite as one of the premier youth programs in the U.S., especially for players looking to pursue the CHL route.
Congratulations to all seven players on your selections and good luck with your next steps!
