Penguins Elite Teams Give Back During the Holidays

The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization puts great emphasis on the importance of giving back to the community and there’s no better time than around the holidays to help out in the community. This year, several Pens Elite squads teamed up to support local causes.

The Semper Giving. 2023 event was hosted at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex by Semper Gratus. in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization and Familylinks. The event was made possible through the generosity of various contributors, including Walmart, Pitt Ohio, Data Ideology, StudioME, UPMC & the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. Pens Elite players of all ages were involved in the initiative that brought the community together to pack 500 boxes of Thanksgiving food for vulnerable families in Western Pennsylvania.

Another cause that the 12U Suisham team gave back to was the Foster Love Project. The organization helps children impacted by foster and kinship care by providing goods, services and support. Members of the team were encouraged to donate items to help support the cause.

A Halloween Candy Collection was organized by the 2011 Verbeek team that benefitted Military Connections, a non-profit organization that provides care packages, equipment and various supplies to the soldiers.

The 16U Pens Elite Girls are participating in a toy drive to help brighten the Christmas season for local children.

All Pens Elite teams were challenged to a “Food Fight” to support Inspired Hearts and Hands provide holiday meals to more than 850 local families. Teams were encouraged to drop off non-perishable foods at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex to support the initiative.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization is proud of the efforts of our teams to support our community! We thank our athletes for taking part and look forward to more initiatives down the road!
