The in-state connections between the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program and Penn State men’s hockey team run deep this season as seven former Pens Elite players make up the Nittany Lions roster for the 2023-24 season. 

Forwards Alex Servango, Matt DiMarsico and Dane Dowiak; defensemen Tanner Palicsik, Carter Schade and Casey Aman; and goaltender Doug Dorr are teammates in State College for a Penn State team that made their third NCAA Tournament appearance last season. 

Alex Servango is in his second season with Penn State after scoring 4 points in 19 games last season. The Gibsonia native played three seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL between his time with the Pens Elite program and at Penn State. 

Matt DiMarsico is a freshman forward who also played with the Green Bay Gamblers last season. The Wexford native has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists so far this season. 

Dane Dowiak is also a freshman forward who comes to Penn State after playing for Pens Elite and in the USHL with the Tri-City Storm. The native of Wexford has notched 2 assists thus far in the 2023-24 season.

Tanner Palocsik played for the Pens Elite program from 2012-2017 and comes to Penn State after playing the last four seasons at Dartmouth. He has played in 11 games this season with 1 goal and 6 assists. 

Carter Schade was teammates with Alex Servango in 2019 when the Pens Elite 16U team won the national championship. Schade is also in his second season with the Nittany Lions after scoring 9 points in 36 games from the blueline last year in his first NCAA season. 

Casey Aman is a freshman defenseman from Johnstown, PA who spent the last two seasons with the Powell River Kings of the BCHL. Aman, who previously spent two seasons with the Pens Elite organization, has played in 6 games this season. 

Doug Dorr is a senior goaltender who was named a 2022-23 Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Dorr spent the 2017-18 in Pittsburgh with the Penguins Elite organization. 

So far, Penn State has posted a 5-3-3 record on the season under head coach Guy Gadowsky as the Nittany Lions attempt to make their way back to the NCAA Tournament. Good luck to the Nittany Lions and all seven Pens Elite alumni this season!
