The Penn State men’s hockey team will be adding two in-state players this fall when Pittsburgh Penguins Elite alumni Carter Schade and Alex Servagno join the team. Both Carter and Alex most recently played in the USHL; Carter, a defenseman with the Lincoln Stars, is coming off a season in which he recorded 4 goals and 27 assists in 55 games while Alex, a forward with the Green Bay Gamblers recorded 15 goals and 26 assists in 59 games.

Both will be returning to play in their home state (Alex hails from Gibsonia, PA and Carter from Mars, PA) to play for the Nittany Lions. It won’t be the first time they’ve been teammates as the pair have each played in the Pens Elite organization for 6+ years before moving on to the USHL. Alex and Carter were key contributors in helping the 16U Boys team win the USA Hockey National Championship in 2019.

Since moving to the NCAA D-1 level for the 2011-12 season, Penn State has made 2 appearances in the NCAA Tournament and won the conference championship in 2017.

In attending Penn State, Alex and Carter will be following in the footsteps of fellow former Pens Elite player Adam Pilewicz who recently graduated from the university and and most recently was presented the Team Culture Award as the student-athlete who best influences a positive culture of quality values off the ice!

Congratulations to both Alex and Carter on everything they’ve accomplished thus far and good luck at Penn State!
