The Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite have always stressed the importance of the development aspect throughout their teams. Players from around the region are given the best opportunity to maximize their potential and hopefully further their hockey careers beyond Pens Elite. Last week, the United States Hockey League (USHL) held its annual draft and 6 Pens Elite players were selected.
Chosen 31st overall in round three of the draft, the Youngstown Phantoms selected 15U forward Brandon Svoboda. Svoboda is coming off a strong season where he lead the 15U team with 25 goals and 38 assists in 45 games.
Chosen 106th overall in round eight of the draft, the Youngstown Phantoms selected 15U forward Justin Stupka. Stupka is coming off a strong season where he registered 24 goals and 34 assists in 47 games.
Chosen 110th overall in round eight of the draft, the Dubuque Fighting Saints selected 15U defenseman Luke Malboeuf. Malboeuf registered 5 goals and 10 assists in 32 games.
Chosen 202nd overall in round 14 of the Phase 2 draft, the Dubuque Fighting Saints selected 18U Prep forward Shawn O'Donnell. O'Donnell is coming off a strong season where he registered 7 goals and 29 assists in 40 games.
Chosen 221st overall in round 15 of the Phase 2 draft, the Omaha Lancers selected 18U Prep defenseman Luke Amell. Amell registered 3 goals and 14 assists in 40 games.
