Alum Matthew Weber recently finished his junior hockey career with the Shreveport Mudbugs in the NAHL. He is committed to play at Bentley University and plans to attend this upcoming season.
We caught up to chat about his time in the Pens Elite program and how he has adjusted to playing at the junior level.
PPE set me up pretty well to succeed in junior hockey. The only adjustment is that you may not be in the lineup every night and your fighting for that lineup spot everyday you are there.
Pens helped me so much to get me where I am today. They made me find things about myself as a person and hockey player that i don't think i would've found anywhere else.
Just being around the guys everyday and being able to play the game I love with them. Especially when we made the Tier 1 Championship game at 18U even though it didn't go the way we wanted it too we had such a good team that year and it was impressive we made it that far.
Just follow your dreams and when someone puts you down just use it as motivation to fuel you to make it farther.
My favorite teammate right now on my current team is Davis Goukler. He's just a good guy to be around and he is very funny in the locker room and away from the ice.
Where I play we have practice at 9 am and then workouts until about 2 pm. Then you have the rest of the day to hang out, or if you have a promotion for the team to help out the community you need to go to those.
My favorite is chicken and rice.
Our home rink in Shreveport because we have the best fans and its just such a unique rink/environment to play in.
Probably Corpus Christi's rink because it is so hot in the rink that the ice is so sticky and you are running our of breath from just sitting on the benches.
