3 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Players Selected in 2020 OHL Draft

The Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite have always stressed the importance of the development aspect throughout their teams. Players from around the region are given the best opportunity to maximize their potential and hopefully further their hockey careers beyond Pens Elite. Yesterday, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) held its annual draft and three Pens Elite players were selected.


Lucas Ross - Erie Otters

Chosen 40th in round two of the draft, the Erie Otters selected 15U forward Lucas Ross. Ross is coming off a strong season where he registered 27 goals and 36 assists in 52 games. He also, lead the 4Clubs (https://4-clubs.com/) in scoring this past season with 16 points in 12 games. The Otters are coming off an up and down season in which they finished 8th in the Western Conference. Former Pens Elite Aidan Campbell currently finished his first season with the Otters.

Evan Konyen - Sudbury Wolves

Chosen 11th in round four, the Sudbury Wolves selected 15’s forward Evan Konyen. Konyen also had a strong showing for the Pens Elite 15U team boasting 36 goals and 27 assists in 55 games played in the 2019-20 season. During the International Silver Stick tournament in Whitby, ON, Konyen registered 11 points in 5 games played. The Sudbury Wolves are coming off a strong season, finishing 4th in the Eastern Conference.

Logan Cooley - Hamilton Bulldogs

Chosen in round eleven of the draft, the Hamilton Bulldogs selected 16U forward Logan Cooley. The West Mifflin, PA native is coming off a great season filled with some sought after accomplishments. During this past season with the 16U team, Cooley totaled 46 points. While his consistent playstyle was noticed here in Pittsburgh, it was also noticed by the U.S National 17 and under team. In March, Cooley was selected onto the final U.S. National 17 and under NTDP team.  The Bulldogs are coming off an up and down season in which they finished 7th in the Eastern Conference.
