A pair of Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite players were selected in the 2019 North American Hockey League (NAHL) Draft on Tuesday. Aden Bruich, a forward for the 16U team and Riley Cooley, a forward for the 18U team were both chosen in the annual player selection event for the top Tier II junior hockey league in the United States.

Bruich, who is coming off a campaign in which he recorded 20 points (12 goals and 8 assists) in 33 games, was selected fourth overall by the Maryland Black Bears. Cooley, whose 2018-19 season with the 18U team saw him produce 35 points (10 goals and 25 assists) in 36 games, was selected in the 6th round (132nd overall) by the New Mexico Ice Wolves.

Both players were selected by NAHL franchises that are in their infancy. The Maryland Black Bears, based out of Odenton, began play last season as an expansion team and the New Mexico Ice Wolves will be an expansion team that will begin play in Albuquerque in the 2019-20 season.

Congratulations to both Aden and Riley on being selected!
