Pittsburgh Penguins Elite players Colby Saganiuk and Carter Schade have been invited to USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program Evaluation Camp. The camp is held to help determine the 2019-20 U.S. National Under-17 Team and will take place from March 21st through the 25th at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program is a full-time program designed not only to prepare students-athletes for success on USA Hockey national teams and their future hockey careers but also for being a well-rounded individual off the ice. Notable alumni of the program include Patrick Kane, Auston Matthews, Phil Kessel and Jack Eichel.

Colby, a forward and Carter, a defensemen are both members of the 16U Pens Elite team that is heading to Grand Rapids for Nationals in April. Both players are also members of the EXCEL Hockey Academy at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and have been involved in the program since its inception.

“Both have put in a tremendous amount of work in preparation for this moment. We wish them the best of luck next week at camp,” said Brian Mueller, the head coach of the 16U team and the Executive Director of Hockey Operations at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

The camp will feature on-ice practices and participants will be able to play in at least 6 games. They will also have the chance to attend 2 U.S. National Under-18 Team games.

Congratulations to Colby and Carter on the invitation and good luck!
