Over the weekend, the 2009 Black team finished out their season in style by winning the Ohio Valley AAA Championship Tournament in Toledo, Ohio.

The Pens Elite squad finished the group stage with a 2-1-0 record thanks to a 3-1 victory over the Novi Ice Cats and a 4-2 victory over the Kalamazoo K-Wings. The only defeat was a narrow 3-2 loss to the Sylvania North Stars.

Upon reaching the semi-final, the 09 Black team was matched up with the Kalamazoo K-Wings once again and the same 4-2 score line saw the team off to the Finals where a matchup with the Sylvania North Stars was in store. Despite falling to Sylvania in the group stage, the 2009 Black team was able to claim the championship by a dominant 7-2 score.
